Frequently Asked Questions

Which lawn tractor is right for me?

When choosing a Cub Cadet residential riding lawn mower you have three options: lawn tractors, garden tractors and zero-turn. Lawn tractors, LTX1042 & LTX1050, are designed for grass cutting and light duty chores. A garden tractor, GT1554, GT2550 & GT3235, is a step-up from a lawn tractor, offering more versatility and power. Zero-turn tractors, i1046, make it easier and quicker to mow your grass especially if you have a lot of obstacles such as trees to mow around.

What deck size do I require?

Cub Cadet riding mower deck sizes range from 42" to 54" and the correct deck size greatly depends on the amount of lawn to be mowed. Homeowners with larger lawns may benefit from stepping up in deck size to reduce mowing time.

Deck Size Cutting time (2 acres)  Benefit
42" / 107cm 2 hours N/A
46" / 116cm   1 hour 50 minutes 10% faster than a 42" deck
50" / 127cm  1 hour 40 minutes  17% faster than a 42" deck
54" / 137cm    1 hour 30 minutes 24% faster than a 42" deck

Will it cut tall and thick grass?

Cub Cadet's innovative cutting system leaves no grass uncut, each component from the blades to discharge chute work together to ensure an unsurpassed quality of cut.

The highly engineered deck design in conjunction with the rotating blades creates a powerful vacuum and smooth, continuous airflow to leave no grass uncut. By keeping airflow continuous and avoiding airflow voids, clippings are evenly propelled and distributed broadly through an extra-wide discharge chute making them disappear into your lawn.

Another key no-grass-uncut feature is the grass collector that pulls in tall grass instead of allowing it to slip around the outside - lessening the amount of time and trimming required near trees and other obstacles.
