Early on after he went out on his own he was tracked down by Gavin Lowndes, the Sales Manager for Steelfort, who wanted him to cart their lawnmowers and parts.
Its been a win-win for both parties and the fact that Guy's current truck and trailer combination is stunningly sign-written with some truly impressive Steelfort lawnmower photography is indicative of how well this arrangement has worked over the last eight years.
"Our relationship with Steelfort is second to none, and the key to that is that everything we load, we unload. Nothing is transhipped for them. We are part of the family down there."
Steelfort are the only domestic producer of lawnmowers left in New Zealand these days, and Guy is proud of the association, and his part in keeping the brand an all Kiwi enterprise. His trucks cart ingots, wheels, cables, and a heap of other product that goes into producing the lawnmowers that are built in Palmerston North, where he is based, but today we're picking up Alto plastic product out of Auckland that will be pointed south.
Guy has "a lot of bits and pieces," of work around and he's loyal to all his customers but in particular Steelfort. "We've built up the relationship by being absolutely customer focused. I would do anything for them as they've been very good to me," Guy Pointed out.
