Steelfort is committed to the continuation of this family business with an aim of providing competitive quality products and services by operating a transparent company, with skilled employees, who display pride of involvement in the ongoing development of the company.
Governance of Steelfort is provided by a transparent programme of monthly board meetings that incorporate personnel responsible for all the varying disciplines of a modern manufacturing and distribution company. The Management Group is as follows:
In 1946 the late Mr Frank McOviney, an immigrant who came to New Zealand from Yugoslavia (Croatia), established the business now known as Steelfort Engineering Company Limited. His associate company Terrazzo (NZ) Limited had been producing kitchen bench tops for a growing housing market since 1936 and seeing the upsurge in Stainless Steel as the new material of the time, he employed three sheet metal tradesmen to fabricate sink bowls for his “Terrazzo” bench tops. These three personnel finished their employment with the company upon their retirement some forty years later.
Steelfort is committed to supporting Manawatu based organisations that enhance the region's sporting and worthy activities.
Steelfort has been a supporter of the Manawatu Racing Club since 2002. Originally sponsors of the Awapuni Gold Cup, we are now proud to support the LawnMaster Eulogy Stakes on Saturday 16th December 2017. The Eulogy Stakes was first introduced by the Manawatu Racing Club in 1953. Since its inception it has seen some of New Zealand’s top fillies take out the race. The race is now also part of the valuable New Zealand Bloodstock Filly Of The Year Series and many winners of the Eulogy have gone on to be crowned the Filly of the Year. Past winners include Plume, Snap, Champagne (who then ran second in the Melbourne Cup a year later), Legs, Kings Rose and last year’s winner Volpe Veloce.
The Arohanui Hospice provides palliative care, comfort and compassion to hundreds of patients and their families each year. Steelfort has been involved with the Arohanui Hospice's support programme since 1995.
